Some of Saturday’s prints mounted up and ready for the shop. More printing this afternoon.
Bank holiday because of the Queen’s funeral today. I started to press the last of the virginia creeper for this year as before long, the vines will be empty of leaves.
I’m so glad I’ve started carrying my sketchbook/leaf press around with me as I spotted these beautiful leaves on an unfamiliar tree while I was out and about this afternoon so I was able to press them before they wilted and shrivelled. Incidentally, the tree is a honey locust according to my phone app.
Cyanotype prints in progress.
I’ve missed a couple of days as I’ve been out of the studio but I figure I’ll keep going anyway, even with the gaps.
Here is a print from today which I think has turned out well, especially with those watery layers of blue in the background. It’s from a little palm that grows on my kitchen windowsill and, all of a sudden, it’s started sprouting these maidenhair fern fronds. I’ve no idea how they got there but I’m not complaining as I keep picking off some beauties to print with.
A cushion cover from this afternoon. Loving the feather details.
The rain is making me feel subdued today and this is about as creative as it gets - through the tram window
A rainy day at the beach with my friends. The first time we’ve all managed to get together since the first lockdown. One of those days that’s good for the soul!
I liked the photo below as it looks like one of those aerial photos of a tropical river system. Such a vibrant green.
A fabulous lampshade workshop today.
A quiet day at the studio prepping for tomorrow’s workshop. Two images from this evening’s walk back to the station.
I didn’t do anything creative today. Queen Elizabeth passed away so definitely the end of an era in the true sense of the word. I screenshot this image of the Queen from the fabulous Paddington sketch from the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.
Fabric for cushions today. This was my favourite - tree peony leaves.
The pic is the three stages of printing a botanical cyanotype, the printing with the leaves, pre wash and post wash.
